Don’t look back
Looks differ from the camera scene
And you don’t think twice
The millimeter spool’s
Blown up on the cinema screen
And you don’t think twice
Each snowflake is new and unique
The steps are yours
The steps are yours to take
It’s all on the cerebral film
No one’s pocketing your footprints
From behind your back
No one’s thieving your shadow
It’s sewn to you
Keep counting the waves
Keep counting the breaks
Each is new, each is unique

Scribe your name in the sand
Waves break and crash
Washing it away
Scribe your ideas in the sand
Let the waves take you away

Rolling in the waves
Tumbling in the break
Finding the sand castle kingdom
When waves break
Where waves break

All are welcome to the kingdom of sand
Sculpted by precious hands
The bridge is always drawn
Reaching over the salt water moat
From a volcanic frozen island
Floating between three coasts
A Bermuda triangle-esque paradise escape
Where everything is brought to shore
No need for a plane, car or boat
Come to and from like you breathe
By the powerful, consistent waves
Close your eyes to see if you can see
Where you can trust the queen

Scribe your name in the sand
Waves break and crash
Washing it away
Scribe your ideas in the sand
Let the waves take you away

Rolling in the waves
Tumbling in the break
Finding the sand castle kingdom
When waves break
Where waves break

She’s everything of everyone
Ten feet tall
Volume ranges to the unheard
The sand castle kingdom is worth each grain
Her majesty’s got eyes the color of sea glass
Shining in the sun
Soft edges from years of tumbling
Reflectors in the dark
Shells imprinted in her cheeks
Hair braided like a conch shell
Humming freely, her wisdom echoes from within
A bloc of philosophers in her mind

Everything’s younger
Everything’s wiser
In the sand castle kingdom
At the end of a wave
Let the waves take you until they break
Let the waves take you wherever they break
When, where waves break

Everything looks brighter
On the other side
Of the horizon line
The Universe glows
To the north, up on the
Three dimensional grid
The stars your eyes breathe
Are the start of the truth
Too far away to vibrate
The crystal’s too stiff
To bend in light, it shatters
An explosion masked by the dark
The force takes light years to see
The trees have more rings
Than we can think on our feet
Do you suppose
We’ll ever reach the sky’s coral reef

Do you suppose
The Universe is a false escape
A false escape further into the unknown
A spiral stairwell descending
Deeper into REM
It’s better as a dream

Do you suppose
There’s more above, more below
The Universe, the Underground

Do you suppose
The universally unknown
Is why we live
Happy to the end

The food all tastes like dirt
Everything sinks beneath
Roots dig deeper than the family tree
Before you, before me
The branches reached endless
Innocent and free
Leaves fell, seeds paved the way
The ground spoke melody
Quiet as can be
Now yells loud as it cracks
The dune’s sands evaporate into the seas
Do you suppose
We’ll ever reach ground’s shining sun

Do you suppose
The Underground is left alone
Cause it’s so close
So close to home
We don’t ever want to know
It’s better as a nightmare

Do you suppose
There’s more above, more below
The Universe, the Underground

Do you suppose
The universally unknown
Is why we live
Happy to the end

Will the Universe be won
Like the West
With money and guns
Instead of paper and pens
Ink settles in defeat
Intellect, twisting tongues
Not all can relate to one treaty
Some talk, some walk
Some are sick of the decree
Better run, the universally unknown
May be found in the Universe
What will then hit the eye
With different senses of
Time, rhythm, feelings, belief
He’s got five
I give it only time
The Universe

Will the Underground be hung
On the mantle above the fireplace
Like the portrait
Of the man who won over the world
Brought them all to their hands and knees
Begging for forgiveness to the eye that sees
Will it have people digging deeper
Than stars die
Burroughs to here and there
NYC’s got five
I give it only time
The Underground

The Universe, the Underground
Do you suppose
We don’t want to know
We’re happy not to know

Let’s fly away
With the summer breeze
To another land
As we go, we’ll take it slow
Steady, cruise control
No hurry to arrive, no more worries of time
Enjoying the beauty, creating memories
Submersed in great views
Framed in scenery
From wide open meadows to rocky, tree-lined peaks
We’ll lie in the fields scattered with flowers
Time ticks by, but these memories won’t die
Cause as time fades our memories build stronger ties
Soil with sand, through woods, along beaches
Connecting dot by dot
The lands broken and spread across the seas

Times are so grand
You turn my blues to oh so sweet summer tunes
Complimented by the sounds of boats that rock
And waves that roll crashing against the coast
As I wake I want to hear you
Whisper in my ear those sweet summer tunes
Let me hear your sweet summer tunes

Let’s hit the road and drive
Through the Mountains Rocking
And Rolling High Plains
Traveling a Mile High
Down a Canyon Grand
Around the Salty Lake
Alongside the shoreline of Highway One
With the Redwoods, the Sur, both Big
Where the words and wordless can be wise
Lie face to face, allow just enough space
Nothing else brings this kind of feel

Times are so grand
You turn my blues to oh so sweet summer tunes
Complimented by the sounds of boats that rock
And waves that roll crashing against the coast
As I wake I want to hear you
Whisper in my ear those sweet summer tunes
Let me hear your sweet summer tunes

You look quite nice
Casual shorts, flip flops, plain color tee
A smile that shines, that look in your eyes
Your style dressed with ease
We’ll hide under night skies
Thoughts and feelings un-subdued
Without fear, my head seems clear
What’s on my mind I’ll always share
Bear in mind together happiness is not near
It’s already here

Times are so grand
You turn my blues to oh so sweet summer tunes
Complimented by the sounds of boats that rock
And waves that roll crashing against the coast
As I wake I want to hear you
Whisper in my ear those sweet summer tunes
Let me hear your sweet summer tunes

Times are so grand
You turn my blues to oh so sweet summer tunes
Complimented by the sounds of boats that rock
And waves that roll crashing against the coast
As I wake I want to hear you
Whisper in my ear those sweet summer tunes
Let me hear your sweet summer tunes
