I wander down an alleyway
In my one-time neighborhood
It’s been a year – it’s been a month – it’s been a day
Foot after foot
Forever’s not so far away
The trees never seem to be bothered by the wind nor rain
And the leaves never seem to speak
As they lay and waste away
People are people
In LA and Maine
Memories grow as far and wide
As the fields of grain
Evergreen’s fresh as the air – I feel the coral on the ground – the Hills are long – the Lake at dawn
There are so many streets that mean so much to me
We wander on and on – nothing can break the bond – not yet our separate lines – no matter the truth – everyone’s gone – friendships are fond – we are such fools – some things just don’t change from our youth
My heart’s not made of stainless steel
The rain hasn’t washed away a single thing
Memories scrape and they smooth – I know it was real
I cannot lie – I’ve felt my fair share of stings
There’s so much that means so much to me
Evergreen’s fresh as the air – I feel the coral on the ground – the Hills are long – the Lake at dawn
There are so many streets that mean so much to me
We wander on and on – nothing can break the bond – not yet our separate lines – no matter the truth – everyone’s gone – friendships are fond – we are such fools – some things just don’t change from our youth
