Benjamin Bill, how do you roll?
I ride the bus mopped with dirt
Putting stains all over my shirt
The polo necked attire I got to wear
I wore what I wanted once, maybe twice
A plain white v neck, some blue jeans, a pair of vans
My boss was not amused with a stern stare
But with the bus ride I get to work dressed in trash
No more appeal or reason to shave
Probably hurts my raise and explains
Why it never makes it my way
But just trying to get by and earn some cash fast
Until I can do what I want
Earn the American Dream, which is what
An idea that seems lost with the rise of unemployment, inflation
Prices, food and gas
The decline of the economy, stock market and housing prices
Has built up hope for change that if not garnered could strike the end
Of the empire that was
The world has changed and it’s up to me and you
Strive for a goal that includes he and she

Benjamin Bill who do you want to be
Forget the face of hundred dollar bills
Spread the wealth with pennies, peace, and opportunity
With the love to all, keeping it steady

It seems everyone is living the dream of another
Even Obama has the dreams from his father
Indirectly influencing the days of our lives
A soap opera that never seems to end
Begins at conception
Picks up in K through 12
Climbing around on that jungle gym
Whether you got that GED or that diploma
That took all those years of yearning before earning
Through the days of higher learning education
That taught us why we learn
Shows the troubles of the world
Poverty, AIDS, Green – the environment
And that there are those that do care
The majority lives for the green on the back of bills

Benjamin Bill who do you want to be
Forget the face of hundred dollar bills
Spread the wealth with pennies, peace, and opportunity
With the love to all, keeping it steady

Cookie monsters of money mealing up all the profits
Digging from the jar without dropping a coin
Paying the lower, the less fortunate in quarter-pounders
Sometimes with cheese
A Big Mac for the Christmas bonus
What happened to profit sharing or the care for others?
They got their second house up in the hills
The third on the beach, maybe even an island
Saving up that cash for a later day
Dre times 3 k explains for their kid’s kid’s kids to have it all
That 500k or multi-mil
Cause what would you be if your kid didn’t have that trust fund
A fund he could trust
How about a family built on trust
Instead of the ninety hour weeks and the Benjamin percent of travel
Time to be chilling with your children instead of a maid
Where would he be in twenty odd years strapped for cash?
How about a man proud he earned it from scratch

Benjamin Bill who do you want to be
Forget the face of hundred dollar bills
Spread the wealth with pennies, peace, and opportunity
With the love to all and sundry
Keep it steady

Benjamin Bill quit who you wanted to be
Give back with love to friends, family, and community
Enjoy this life while you’re young
Share it with all, lack all those enemies

Keeping it steady, steady, steady…….
Steady, steady, steady…….
Steady, steady, steady…….
