Monthly Archives: January 2010

I’ve been reading from left to right
Following order
Cause if this then that
Checklists crossed off
In numerical succession
Ascending into obsessions
My times of yore, recollection
Is it cool if I reference the Bible?
Or is that libel
What if I cite prayers?
I’m only a nobody
No one really cares
Can I take it out of context?
Not the meaning but the writing style
To add a dramatic affect
Of my life’s script
To right the design
I swerve to the left
If there’s a market for it
There’s a market for the opposite
Positioned benign
When someone rises
Another will fall
And people enjoy watching the dominos
On TV mounted walls

If, then, if, then
If this, I am
If, then, if, then
If that, I can
If, then, if, then
If this, I am
If, then, if, then
If that, I can
If, then, I am, I can

I’m in the bubs
Of sodas
In the clubs
A lost boy
Searching for the lost noise
Bumping to Jay – HOVA
Ba – Mid – Bar (Bah – Mid – Bah)
Chopping down time like lumbah
If Lupe’s 16 bit
I’m NES
Never Ever Stopping
Cause from the Genesis
I’ve been packed in a cartridge
Smash’n buttons to my Exodus
A and B, kick and punch
Up to jump to the Heavens
I’m a street fighter
With my own knuckles
I don’t need Sonic’s friends
Or his super – spin
I never ever dash
I never ever crash
Into walls
Dr. Robotnik’s flying in trash
And if I get a handful of rings
Then my kind of cash
Is a touching call

If, then, if, then
If this, I am
If, then, if, then
If that, I can
If, then, if, then
If this, I am
If, then, if, then
If that, I can
If, then, I am, I can

My hi – tops are redefined
Jellies are sketched
On the soles waving hello
To the buds that smoke like coals
On the concrete, below
Running down the long – streets
Burning holes in the long – sleeves
In the imminent heat
If my shoelaces broke
I use quick – ties
But I ain’t broke
I’m trying to stay away
From being tied up
In knots everyday
I’ve had enough
Of if and then
Cause I am, I can
No matter what I’ve got
In my pockets and hands
No matter your hypothesis
I’m NES, not ever stopping
Cause I don’t got the kind that quits
If, then, I am, I can

If, then, if, then
If this, I am
If, then, if, then
If that, I can
If, then, if, then
If this, I am
If, then, if, then
If that, I can
If, then, I am, I can

I like to sit by the window
Counting people pass
Taking notes
Walking down halls fast
With paper and pen in tote
Except on a plane
I like the alleyway
Listening to electronics
Outside on the streets
From Tru Dat’s depiction
I’m an Outkast
And class is in session
Da Art of Storytellin’
At the train station
Learning that life’s about
More than going through the motions
Need a locomotive

When it all adds up
The simple math
When it moves so fast
The simple path
Doing the simple math
Down the simple path

FZA is drawing an illustration
As a mural of Shere – Akrhan
On a pirate ship
Doing the moonwalk off the plank
With each foot tied to a brick
And I’m soaring on a wave over sharks
Their teeth are great and white
I surface like their fins
And wash up, shore I’m alright
I was only snoring on the boardwalk
Counting the followers in my head
Doing the simple math
Floating in clouds in bed
My foot feels like pins
On the simple path

When it all adds up
The simple math
When it moves so fast
The simple path
Doing the simple math
Down the simple path

The bell rings
Look at us, look at us
We’re hanging next to the stairs
Look at me, look at me
I’m hanging from the balcony
It’s common like I used to be
Anonymous in Miami
Diversity at its finest
The percent of ninety – nine
From the cave to the spotlight
And hung with the girl
With her yellow, blue and green checkered shirt
Plaid had her looking prettier than me
She must not have liked that ice cream
And she finished it
Everything’s as it seems
Glad lasts to bad to never had
I should have known
I’d grow more than I ever have

When it all adds up
The simple math
When it moves so fast
The simple path
Doing the simple math
Down the simple path

I should have never hemmed the jeans
I like them rolled up once
When it’s hot just below the knees
And I care, I’ll buy a pair
Of denim LRG’s
I’m doing the simple math
Down the simple path
And I want the style to light a match
Cause the inches add up
Up – hill’s not fast
Through the trees is the shortest path
But in there it’s like
The road to Colombia
Daring me to bridge the gap
Jungle, smuggle, wildcats
And growth
I’m doing the simple math
It’s the simpler path

Friday night I was gone fishing
In a cabin
Call it upstate New York like Wisconsin
Two gin and tonics
Ran me ten dollars
Conversing with Samantha Blurrr
She ran it
East coast, pictures, traveler
Topics
Filming, All-Stars, flowing down the East River
Iconic
The Brooklyn Bridger
Coincidental, ironic
I feel ET
Cause everything is so out of this world
Extraterrestrial, interesting
Extraterresting

This world’s so extraterrestrial
I feel Alien
Extraterresting
Even the peon
Is making national news
Extraterresting
I feel like Obi-Wan
Fighting for the truth
Extraterresting
I feel chameleon
Adjusting to every hue
ET, extraterresting
ET, extraterresting

Enlighten me with your chattels
I will
My thoughts for I’m a writer
Under an alias
My berry’s for I’m a thinker
Under a navy headdress
My speakers for I’m a listener
Understand – grand
My eyes for she’s a looker
Under the stars
ET, extraterrested, abducted, I’m a fan
Although there are places I’ve never been
Like San Anton
I don’t have the boots or the spurs
But I like to river walk and the zoo
Cause I’ve never liked wearing fur
I got that upside down frown
Kiki with wide open arms
Emerging from the streets of a shattered town
Happy to be around
For this world
Is so extraterrestrial, so interesting
So extraterresting

This world’s so extraterrestrial
I feel Alien
Extraterresting
Even the peon
Is making national news
Extraterresting
I feel like Obi-Wan
Fighting for the truth
Extraterresting
I feel chameleon
Adjusting to every hue
ET, extraterresting
ET, extraterresting

The world’s so electrifying
Medussa Omblongata
She’s wearing that hairpin in my mind
Finer than Dolce and Gabbana
She aimed for the apricot
And hit me with one shot
I don’t only wanna, I gotta
She’s controlling my autonomic
Every breathe
My heart races astronomic
She’s the sniper at the gate
So fast is how I collapse
Snow White inverted
And I’m the Prince awaking from the nap
Follow the leader
Sideways on sidewalks
Luke Skywalker
We’re whispering, it’s side – talk
“You say you want to hear
A bedtime story
Take a bite of this ring
And taste the glory”
Let’s unravel from the travel
Extraterresting, this world’s a marvel

This world’s so extraterrestrial
I feel Alien
Extraterresting
Even the peon
Is making national news
Extraterresting
I feel like Obi-Wan
Fighting for the truth
Extraterresting
I feel chameleon
Adjusting to every hue

I misplace myself
In an imperfect situation
On uneven ground
Take some chances
Rely less on dumb luck
Got lost, now to be found
Growing through the times of desperation
Learning on my feet
An informal education
Of walking strange streets
Freshness in the air
Knowledge is in season
And I’m harvesting all I can
Cause right now I’m stuck
Quickly sinking in the sand
I fight effortlessly, out in one piece
Thankful for the knowledge from being low
Wisdom gained battling adversity
I learned much when childhood seemed tough
Today I feel handcuffed
To reflect what all expect is rough
It’s never enough

Count to ten and hide behind your sorrow
Your happiness will arrive in awhile
Please just wait an indefinite tomorrows
And it’ll be found within your smile

Hide and seek, a child’s game
A relation, an explanation
Of the difficulties life throws our way
Twists and turns that at times burn
I’m headed to the Valley
With a fifth in my hand
Leaping over hedgerows
Climbing over chain links
No try, no time, no fly
In a constant state
At a constant pace
Each the same fate, sounds fake
Shift back to truth
The downs bring frowns
But allow me to grow
Until I flourish
With the May flowers
Cultivated by the April showers
I whistle while I March
To my own beat on the un-beat-en path
Appreciating the gems
Hold on tight; don’t let them slip out of sight
Written in pen

Count to ten and hide behind your sorrow
Your happiness will arrive in awhile
Please just wait an indefinite tomorrows
And it’ll be found within your smile

I change my angle and my stance
To obtain a perspective enhanced
Less linear, abstract
A unique look, fiction not fact
Life unplanned
As my own architect
Without a print shaded in blue
I’m authoring an unwritten book
An original tale not plagiarized
Recipes not known by another cook
Beginning at my base, my soul
Building my way up till I reach the top
Staying cool in Black Thought
Enjoying incidents as rest stops
I chose to step less conservatively
Not right foot after right
Worrying not that my next step
Will be the right one
Left, wrong, or maybe last
I thank yesterday for the tip
To take turns, my feet, not to trip
I count to ten and hide behind the sorrow
My happiness will arrive in awhile
After the indefinite tomorrows
I’ll find it behind the smile

Bask in the sun with laughter
The rough times have up-righted your smile
You got what you’re after
A spectacle so grand, nothing higher
Of minimum complaints without any rain
Wonderful, the downhearted blaze
The downhearted inspire

Bask in the sun with laughter
The rough times have up-righted your smile
You got what you’re after
A spectacle so grand, nothing higher
Of minimum complaints without any rain
Wonderful, the downhearted blaze
The downhearted inspire

OooooWeeeee
Hang in a tight click
Do the coolest , it
OooooWeeeee
Are the Elephantry
On a Stampede
Rocking our ivory tusks
Swinging our trunks
OooooWeeeee

On a Stampede
Rocking our ivory tusks
Swinging our trunks
OooooWeeeee
OooooWeeeee

Hush – hush, hush – hush
We’re elephants on – the – edge
Trampling down the tangle
Building our own alley – a – way
From the strangle
Hush – hush, don’t tell no one
We’re on an Elephantry stampede
And we’re almost done
Planting our alley – way seeds
Hush – hush, don’t tell the gun
We don’t want to have to run amok
With our iron lungs
We don’t want to have to hurt no one
With our ivory tusks

The paperboy’s throwing
The NY Post
And we’re catching
The news on our ivory tusks
The musician’s pounding
On the piano keys
And we’re shouting
From our trunks
We chill-out and play
Eight, nine ball
Cut-throat if three
We’re climbing hills in herds
And when the day fades from open to closed
We’re rounding around third
No one can hear us coming home
Cause we walk and run on tip-toes
It’s like we’re cloaked
Throwing – daggers cause we’d rather
Make use of our long nose
Knocking down whatever’s getting too close
Whoever we don’t know
And we take turns to watch out
Follow the leader
Down our daily route
Every day the street is plowed
And if we see prowlers
They better run

OooooWeeeee
Hang in a tight click
Do the coolest , it

We’re making alley – ways
You say we’re stacking walls
We say roads can only be so wide
Sorry we stand so tall
When we’re working hard
Look in our shadows
And you can see what we believe
When the Beatles sing
People dance
Can’t help but feel bad for dirty leaves
Needles getting in the way of dreams
But we took advantage
Graffiti’d the alley – way
Didn’t have to kill a thing
Let’s keep it that way
Run away, run away
Cause we don’t like to raise our trunks
And we can erupt
Run away, run away
Cause we don’t like to use our ivory tusks
Except when we must
Run away, run away

OooooWeeeee
Hang in a tight click
Do the coolest , it
OooooWeeeee

I love this game
Like Dominique hung above the rim
Bird rained treys
Magic’s vision was x-ray
Jordan’s un-guardable fade away
They played like basketball was in the air
The NBA was swish
But when they hung up their kicks
The game hit rim, brick
Under the influence
People were still high on Mike
Looking for the Grade A type
Kareem, Dr. J and Pistol Pete
To bring the hype
That sold out arena seats
In high school he was listening
LeBron James picked up his cell phone
Threw chalk in the air and a King was born
On the Cavs the sun shone
The next biggest thing since Dinosaurs
The beginning of the regime of the LeBrontosaurus

Ever since antiquity
Dinosaurs roamed the Earth supreme
They disappeared in the end
And began the search for an heir
The Planet has turned serene
Chalk powder’s in the air
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus

He goes by the name
Of LeBron James
And the King’s been crowned
With fortune and fame
His throne’s in Akron, Ohio
And picking up where MJ left off
Wearing twenty-three
But in wine and gold
Cause the disciples believe
His play is three-two Magic – al
We’re all witnesses
And every night’s like Scattergories
He’s filling the box score in every category
Triple double, he’s the cover story
They like to watch
Him FedEx the rock
Net every shot
Fly sky-high on an alley-oop
He’s the number one highlight
“And I can’t wait to watch him hoop
In Quicken live on Friday night”

Ever since antiquity
Dinosaurs roamed the Earth supreme
They disappeared in the end
And began the search for an heir
The Planet has turned serene
Chalk powder’s in the air
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus

Two – zero – zero – two
The NBA was packed with TNT
NYE the ball dropped in NYC
The basketball exploded
Off of the street into the air
Two – thousand – three
Better than anyone could have wrote it
And the Studio Team is making everyone aware
Analyzing the best of today
There are Post Game fanatics
Sir Charles adds his antics
And TNT barely goes a second
Without saying
“We interrupt your current broadcast
For a news flash
Add it to the LeBron James YouTube stash
Cause he just shook that dude
Right out of his shoes
And charged the lane
Go Go LeBrontosaurus arm
Threw it down with a Tomahawk jam
While surrounded by five Raptors
Better than anything we’ve ever seen
Until tomorrow, the LBJ rapture”

Ever since antiquity
Dinosaurs roamed the Earth supreme
They disappeared in the end
And began the search for an heir
The Planet has turned serene
Chalk powder’s in the air
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus

He’s worth all the talk
Flying higher than the Atlanta Hawk
“The Human Highlight Film”
LeBron does it like he walks
At sell-out venues
And we’re all dribbling
Down the avenue
On our way to the mall
To buy the two – three shirt
Nike Air Max sevens
Cause he’s been selling out games
Since he was eleven
He’s already earned his way
Into our Halls of Fame
And is paving the way
The future of the NBA
Putting poster’s on bedroom walls
Has people wishing they could ball
Like the chosen one, King James
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus
We’re in the regime of the LeBrontosaurus

I’ve got this premonition
That my feelings will soon refocus
But right now I’m pleased
To be tight rope walking
Up where birds fly
With no one else around
Resting on telephone lines
With views of all the ones I know below
I’ll yell jokes
Pretend that they hear me
But I’ll be able to slip away
From any worries
It’s great living a life
Without having to hurry

I’m tight rope walking in the dark
Without any vision
Collecting step after step
Memories with each decision
The dark promises to make me fall for you
Soon, I’ll fall back down to you
I’m tight rope walking in the dark
I’ll soon come back down from the sky
Cause the dark is sly
And I’m bound to fall back down

Looking down on the clouds
Thunder, lightning, rain
Life’s easier up here
Up here I avoid the storms
The change of the seasons
They look pretty but I need a break
From the cycles of life
The ups and downs
Have been to extreme
The winter was freezing
No flowers came with spring
Summer is hotter than ever
It’s made my decision easy
I’m staying up here for the fall
At least until the dark calls
Cause I’ve got this suspicion
That deep down I’ll find
It’s too dark, oh indecision

I’m tight rope walking in the dark
Without any vision
Collecting step after step
Memories with each decision
The dark promises to make me fall for you
Soon, I’ll fall back down to you
I’m tight rope walking in the dark
I’ll soon come back down from the sky
Cause the dark is sly
And I’m bound to fall back down

I’m only getting lost
A little getaway
From auto focus
Life’s tough conditions
I’ve adjusted my life
Running a manual transmission
Each step I take on the tight rope
Is solely my decision
I’m seeing and being free
Living my own dreams
But I’m far too shy
To tell the birds
That I’ll soon be moving on
I don’t care right now
If it may be wrong
The lie I’m living
It’s sure to get back to me
But while I walk I balance
On the beams of light
Shining up on me
Chin up, cleaned up, smirked up
Saw you, glaring my direction
Adding colors glowing
Below the opaque clouds
Simple arithmetic, numberless addition
Pupil to pupil, wordless communication
It’s dark out, our minds shine
The dark’s making sure
You’re who I find

I’m tight rope walking in the dark
Without any vision
Collecting step after step
Memories with each decision
The dark promises to make me fall for you
Soon, I’ll fall back down to you
I’m tight rope walking in the dark
I’ll soon come back down from the sky
Cause the dark is sly
And I’m bound to fall back down

I’ve got this fascination, an obsession
Walking on ropes
High with kites
But I’ll come down
I’ll come down
When I want to try
When I’m tired of being lonely
Alone, without you
Cause I can’t afford the whole shore
And eventually I’ll want you more
My views, each breath
I’ll share with you
When I come back down
Remember, you weren’t the reason I fled
There’s no one I’d want instead
I wish I would have known you
Before I left, I may have stayed
But I needed some time
A second alone tight rope walking

Lucky for you and me, it was dark
It made me take a misstep
And I fell right into your arms
And I like your charm

Lucky for you and me, it was dark
It made me take a misstep
And I fell right into your arms
And I like your charm

I feel like I’m yelling behind the sound
Of twenty inch subs
And I don’t want to drive around
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m a fly in the wind
Of twenty industrial fans
And I don’t want to light the wick
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m running into walls
Of twenty thick bricks
And I don’t want to answer the calls
I don’t want to align the stars

I don’t want to drive
I’ve ran into too many walls
I’m seeing so many stars
Hearing all the telephone calls
The phone is so far
And I want to rove around on land
Undercover, through the water
Part waterfalls with my hand
Happy thoughts and I transcend
Under tables drawn with crayons
I feel like I’m seeing images
In the form of puzzle pieces, where I am
Compound eyes, multiple tries
The Ides of March, Pisces is my sun sign
But I don’t like to escape, I like to fly
I write and talk in hidden scripture
It’s non-fiction, larger-than-life detailed description
And I don’t follow bogus calls
But I’ll sit and listen
Like I’m in your shoes, I’m standing tall
Guiding my way down a mission

I feel like I’m yelling behind the sound
Of twenty inch subs
And I don’t want to drive around
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m a fly in the wind
Of twenty industrial fans
And I don’t want to light the wick
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m running into walls
Of twenty thick bricks
And I don’t want to answer the calls
I don’t want to align the stars

I’ll be gone tomorrow
Away on a vacation
Destination, any city in any nation
And I’d go as far to say
I won’t be sleeping in my own bed
So when I don’t return your calls
Don’t think I’m dead
But I do have one favor
Will you take care of my Escalade?
If you need a place to crash
I need a maid
Here’s the key and some spending cash
All you got to do, when I get back
Throw a welcome home bash
Here’s a list of guests
You can invite a few hundred more
Diversify; collaborate with the East and West
And I’m off the ground
On my way to the right place at the right time
I’m headed to the store
And knock, knock, knock
I’m at your door
I had a connection at the airport near your house
The rainstorm kept my flight on the concrete floor
So I thought I’d ask if you wanted
To hit the city’s premier spots
Per-fect the city’s most popular hobby
Eat a dish prepared by a Top Chef
And gather people in your city’s finest hotel lobby
Don’t you worry the next day I’ll be gone
I hope I showed you a good time in your hometown

I feel like I’m yelling behind the sound
Of twenty inch subs
And I don’t want to drive around
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m a fly in the wind
Of twenty industrial fans
And I don’t want to light the wick
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m running into walls
Of twenty thick bricks
And I don’t want to answer the calls
I don’t want to align the stars

I’m learning from all the thoughts and pictures
Forming constellations in my head
I’m sleeping on Halley’s Comet, my room is dark
And if you want to follow just look for the tire treads
Next to a skyline glowing with planets and stars
Cause I’ve hit more cities
Than your girl’s got shoes
Think a minute
That’s two per pair; I’m one of the lucky few
Life’s not fair, that’s more than true
I don’t care, I got my crew
Don’t cut your hair
Too – short
Cause life’s the like
You earn some cash and build a fort
Just to move on – take a hike
I’m dynamic; I’ve been around this planet
Just wait till they open Mars
Give me a shuttle and I’ll man it
Traveling from star to star
Stealing hearts
While you’re driving around in cars
Against the wind of industrial fans
Listening to the sound of subs
Shere-Akrhan, I’m making mine
Busting rhymes ever since I was a tiger cub

I feel like I’m yelling behind the sound
Of twenty inch subs
And I don’t want to drive around
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m a fly in the wind
Of twenty industrial fans
And I don’t want to light the wick
I don’t want to go that far

I feel like I’m running into walls
Of twenty thick bricks
And I don’t want to answer the calls
I don’t want to align the stars
