I wander down an alleyway
In my one-time neighborhood
It’s been a year – it’s been a month – it’s been a day
Foot after foot
Forever’s not so far away

The trees never seem to be bothered by the wind nor rain
And the leaves never seem to speak
As they lay and waste away
People are people
In LA and Maine
Memories grow as far and wide
As the fields of grain

Evergreen’s fresh as the air – I feel the coral on the ground – the Hills are long – the Lake at dawn
There are so many streets that mean so much to me

We wander on and on – nothing can break the bond – not yet our separate lines – no matter the truth – everyone’s gone – friendships are fond – we are such fools – some things just don’t change from our youth

My heart’s not made of stainless steel
The rain hasn’t washed away a single thing
Memories scrape and they smooth – I know it was real
I cannot lie – I’ve felt my fair share of stings
There’s so much that means so much to me

Evergreen’s fresh as the air – I feel the coral on the ground – the Hills are long – the Lake at dawn
There are so many streets that mean so much to me

We wander on and on – nothing can break the bond – not yet our separate lines – no matter the truth – everyone’s gone – friendships are fond – we are such fools – some things just don’t change from our youth

Life’s like peaches and cream

You bite down and hit the pit

Shaking the tree of peachy dreams

Falls a nightmare onto the street

Bite into the nightmares as dreams

‘Cause life is peaches and life is screams

Baby – will you be a dandelion
And fly me back in time – to 1955
Baby – be a dandelion
Take me back to 1955
Swing me back to 1955

Cherry pink and apple blossom white
I’m in love with this summer
Baby, where is that Zeitgeist?
Why did we turn the rudder?
20 cents will buy – Life
Lighting sparklers are hi – tech
Before John & Paul
Who didn’t have a son or daughter
To pass the hypnosis torch on
It all went down
Chasing the Zeppelin
Into a crater in the ground
The hunt is on – for 1955
And I don’t care what anybody says
How nice simple does sound
I’d like to once again trust a handshake
I wish this wouldn’t end – an infinite day parade
There’s not a cloud in the sky
Pour me another glass of Lemonade

Oh I want to know
Where did I park my Plymouth
I’m walking further on down
By Chevy Bel Air sedans
Roads without guard rails – only white pickets
I see a million smiles without one line or frown
Gun powder was only for one day – the 4th of July
Not for marching dead men – led by a drummer
The Kids were glued to the yards
Not our chief export
And we were not yet importing foes
Oh I want to
Rock around the clock
With Bill Haley and His Comets
Jet back the clock
To serene simplicity
And Happy Days
Baby – tell me how the rest goes
I’m falling in love with that make-believe summer

Baby – will you be a dandelion

Dear Ms. Importance
I forgot your name
It was a mistake
When you reminded me I felt your pain
I’ll make it up to you
At any time, any place
Knowwww , I’m not rushing for gold
I’m no 49er
Peace sign and feather I can’t remember
The last time it was 3 and I was tired
Say something, happy or sad
A little emotional, a crier
Bigger than a fool, a liar
Hear me now
I’m writing it on the wallllllll
The scene of you and me looks nice in my mind
Let’s meet up and drawwwww
It out

50s Grade, coffee beans and stains
A young woman walks by in an old dress
The old man stands
Outside on a pedestal
In his Uniform
The sprockets turn in his head
Heart ticks-n-tocks over his wristwatch
Building a vista with a crane
Competence of the brain
On Monday morning
Sits in the stomach like a drain
Freight train over wavesss
Past billboards of all the mistakes
Vivid stares around
Drowned tunnel, stop signs & telephone lines
Look straight into the eyes of the edifice glass
And he tilts his cap down
To the window washers
And the tips flap their way
Into the top hat
You hear it loud as the coins echo to the ground
The wings of pigeons
Fly in the wind
Good day to all with the wave of a hand, like Ma and Pa
The woman turns around

Challenge is for hunger
And we’re all running to nowhere, for wonder
Swords and Shields and Armor
Wings and Wands and Glitter
It makes the world so harmless
We’ve got the true attire
Ignore the 60 seconds, the minutes, the 100 cents & the dollars
Stand up to the wind, the lightning & the thunder
Materials are not real when we wear
Our true attire

Disdain to the materials
In the refrain
Rumor has it
There’s a fresh spot
Down by the French Market
Café and diner
And a fresh pot, of bold
He casts away
Off the Bridge off Wacker
Trying to catch
Something to Sous Chef
A touch, a little finer
But the hook breaks loose
Upstream swims his woman
Cigar butt to the curb
It hurts to hit the concrete burned
Oh, when will her and I return

Challenge is for hunger
And we’re all running to nowhere, for wonder
Swords and Shields and Armor
Wings and Wands and Glitter
It makes the world so harmless
We’ve got the true attire
Ignore the 60 seconds, the minutes, the 100 cents & the dollars
Stand up to the wind, the lightning & the thunder
Materials are not real when we wear
Our true attire

bold & ambitious, so so so delicious” – dca

(I apologize for the glare; it is impossible to get a picture of this with how it reflects light every which direction. but the artist is forest and it was a commission.  I hope he doesn’t mind my name for it. enjoy the detail. Oh and it is for sale: $217,721. I would be sad to sell this thing though)

There’s a place I seek
Lying in the weeds and fallen leaves
It’s outside of the stars I reach
Blocked by a wall of streams
T.V. down the waterfall shaft
I hope it can last
I need a bridge to get past
I need a bridge to get past
The concrete gap
The concrete gap
I want to Bridge the Gap

I climb on shallow, hollow blocks
You’re blind to looking down
Where a question begins
There’s a diktat that’ll last
Through the glory and the shame
Every day is the same
The hands clap
The foot taps
You look great but let’s change your name
You mustn’t huck for fate
A lion is in command
Him and his mane
Oh I’m sorry, I’ve never been one
To look down the barrel to fame
I have questions on repeat
Please rewind the tape
I need a bridge to get past
I need a bridge to get past
The concrete gap
The concrete gap
I want to Bridge the Gap

We have a healthy disease
Fortune will pry
Fortune will pry
A healthy disease gone bad
And the sky is home to the heads overblown
If the heavens explode
What could ever be known
I need a bridge to get past
I need a bridge to get past
The concrete gap
The concrete gap
I want to Bridge the Gap
Will we find our way out
Back to home
Will we stick in the sap
While swimming laps
In the current retreat
Shallow and fast
Shallow and fast
I need a bridge to get past
I need a bridge to get past
The concrete gap
The concrete gap
I want to Bridge the Gap
Bridge the Gap
Bridge the Gap
Bridge the Gap
Bridge the Gap

Kicking cans and kicking rocks
Spinning Cokes and spinning clocks
Home is so comfortable
Now we’re all on the run
As slaves to time
The sand drifts by
We’re all on the run
Hello every passerby
Ambition rises through the leaves
Above the tree line
Resonates on my shirt
Shines out my sleeves
Glowing red, orange and gold
It sets in my shadow
And they may see my mind as lying in prone
As I close my eyes and dream of defeat
I have a nightmare I’m on a beach
With nothing in my wingspan
I’m going to fall then grow
With the needles and cones
All I need is my box of crayons
To scribble my list of demands
Illegible to the rest of man

Head through the forest down a single track
You’ll see what you can’t believe
Head to the mountains on a rocky path
You’ll see what you want to touch
Head down the road and don’t look back
Only in memory

I wish I wish I
Had one more
I wish I wish I wish I
Miss the days
When I worried more than my Liquid Blues
I’m driving to the sea foaming green
Littering the street with seeds
Caution, a bridge ahead
And winter has crept under sheets
Ice on worn out tire treads
I hang from the moss gripping to a tree
I’m not about to turn upside down
Numbers, letters and stars Merry Go Round
Clouds, Windmills and rings fade in the sky
I’m standing still as the wolves howl
A five year old smile waving Good Bye

Head through the forest down a single track
You’ll see what you can’t believe
Head to the mountains on a rocky path
You’ll see what you want to touch
Head down the road and don’t look back
Only in memory
