Merry Christmas Folks!

A Song For Graduation – extraBBQ by dallread

It’s that time of year
November – facial hair and Holiday Cheer
I look outside my Studio Window
The snow covers the outside planet – so white it looks clear
Everyone walks around so slow with their heads down
The seasons change, making everyone an annual widow
They lost the summer and miss it so much their eyes could be full of tears
Yah – it’s that time of year
People are drinking whiskey instead of beers
Trading Yuengling for Maker’s
Off the Mark hitting the Mistletoe with homing darts
While fins circle, surrounding all the shops
All these people file down the mall in herds and flocks
A perfect moment for a wolf to enter the room
‘Cause no one can run – there’s ice covering the ground for a thousand blocks
It’s like bowling with bumpers, so easy to clean house you don’t even need a broom
Yah – it’s that time of year
There’s a party every night December 10th and on and on
Everyone’s feeling cooler than every other fish in the pond
All the bird’s are covered in snow they look like Swans
I got to get up and slip on some wool socks – a winter cap to cover up my locks
Shopping list with all my friends and family’s each and every wish jotted down
Money in my pockets – I can spend a couple hundred more than my budget Topps
That’s for real but what’s logic
In 1990 the scientists were right – technology has the power to change the world
Pause: Steve Jobs dreams to make everything done with an iPod, cross functional not stopping till he outshines the sun
To where we can no longer function
Soon http will replace the local business and Herald
Tangled up in wires – all the perils – tech is making me feel sterile
Play: Carry on, drink your pop and munch on your snacks
Fast forward thru life like it’s a commercial
I got to stop and say I miss people walking around neighborhoods saying hello and singing carols
Happy Holidays

That’s what happens this time of year
The Holidays bring sadness along with all the cheers
Christmas bonus checks are cut from the deck
It’s bitter sweet ‘cause it’s not the size of your peers
“What the heck”
Then I remember even the Titanic can ship wreck

The hands spin on the clocks and all the ships are sailing into the docks
Hours later and it’s halfway to closing time at the pub
Everyone’s gotten way too drunk and there’s one guy acting like a chump
Knocking on everyone that says whatssup
Girls raise their hands in mittens to their face – Oh Dear
Like he’s eating from the chips and double dipping
The bartender doesn’t understand why he’s tripping
Acting like oil, crude
I didn’t know the Grinch could grow a beard
Then again he doesn’t have that Go – Getter Attitude
He can’t even look into the mirror
One thing’s for sure he’s not in the Shower & Shaving Mood
As he’s about to hit a smaller dude for fun – he runs – and the bouncer throws him in the alley
‘That was your last chance you’re done’
He’s got to turn his life around starting from the inside out with his stocking cap and rally
He needs someone like Sally
It just goes to show
The Holidays aren’t the same across the board
Not everyone is checking off the days with tallies
I put on my glasses so I can see 20/20 to re-write my list
The Holidays are 50/50 – peaks and valleys

That’s what happens this time of year
The Holidays bring sadness along with all the cheers
Christmas bonus checks are cut from the deck
It’s bitter sweet ‘cause it’s not the size of your peers
“What the heck”
Then I remember even the Titanic can ship wreck

That’s what happens this time of year
The Holidays bring sadness along with all the cheers
Christmas bonus checks are cut from the deck
It’s bitter sweet ‘cause it’s not the size of your peers
“What the heck”
Then I remember even the Titanic can ship wreck

[CHORUS:
We’re feeling the ups and downs
Of success and defeat
Planting and watering the seeds
Seeking what we want – seeking what we need
We’re seeing life deeper than 3 – D
Realer than reality TV
We wear our hearts on our sleeves]

While someone was cutting up lines
I was on my way obeying all the signs
You got to watch out on these streets
They’re full of bouncing betties and land minds
The psycho, un-careful kind
On the highway, high-speed crash
The kind that brings slow – motion to time
The wheels are braking – the thoughts are rolling
What’s life made of?
What’d I do to stay here with the ones I love
Forgetting every second life was tough
And then it’s like an omen from up above
We’re dangling – from the ceiling
Flying like a Dove
Seatbelts are our wings
Sometimes a pat on the back can be like a shove
In the right direction we lean
Lasers are for – four eyes – correction
Life’s realer than the movie screen
Even when it’s in 3 – D
Although some people got more best DVD’s and obsessions
Than family ‘n friends in their collection
Sooner or later recollection is destined
Followed by destination affection
ETA – after you learn a lesson

[CHORUS]

Anybody know Espanol, French & Chinese
We have Dollars and cents to anyone who can translate
And scramble our letters into words in this melting pot earth
Hollering with sense – we’re living for the moments facing fate
Climbing to the top from the dirt like Transworld Surf
But we’re not your every day Taxi Cab Wave
Living each day like it’s a World Title Bout
Everything we say echoes from our Apartment Caves
Impossible to replicate, separate, we articulate as we shout
Brothers – getting grown like bald – getting flyer than eagle – boy scouts – our thoughts are Siamese
There’s another – that makes three
Younger we went a little Betta
Fighting for our right on a Spree
Stacking Legos on the doors to our dreams
We’ll never be goldfish swimming to the drain on a downward spiral from the tops of the trees
At times we will fall but we got these people – they’re our leaves
It’s easy to know, safer to grow when you wear your heart on your sleeve
Not listening what the cowards sing
‘Are they insane – what are they drinking – how far down is it from where they leap – I hope the water’s deep’
Yeah, we’re feeling the ups and downs
Of success and defeat
But we’re planting and watering the seeds
Seeking what we want – seeking what we need
We’re seeing life deeper than 3 – D
Realer than reality TV
While we wear our hearts on our sleeves

Dishwashing by extraBBQ

The force beneath my feet is slowly broken now I’m bare
Winters come and still it’s storming, heaven is nowhere
The coldest shiver chills my bones, humbles my toes

In my sleep I see everywhere
I have a map to follow
To where the place I’m moving
Ohhhhh but no one cares
The seasons have me walking
Over a countryside of layers
The steps are reflecting in my review mirror
Each footprint feels so hollow
As the snowfall has me seeing nothing but glare
Broken joy – thank God the Seas are shallow
I couldn’t climb a million stairs

The force beneath my feet is slowly broken now I’m bare
Winters come and still it’s storming, heaven is nowhere
The coldest shiver chills my bones, humbles my toes

I know, I know
You’re afraid of heights
I dare you to come with me to the gallows
Grab my hand and let’s run towards the light
Fly like there’s no tomorrow
Look down and you’ll decide it’s worth all the sorrow
Steps up the valley – let’s roll
And wave our hands to the skies like we’re sparrows
Flying for something the ground doesn’t offer
You look fancy in your cocktail dress
All I have is this tie and collar
We say hello to say goodbye
We say hello to say goodbye

The force beneath my feet is slowly broken now I’m bare
Winters come and still it’s storming, heaven is nowhere
The coldest shiver chills my bones, humbles my toes

Don’t you dare
Look at the sun during an Eclipse
The shadows take over the world
Trip after triiiiiiip
Oh I don’t care
I want to hold your hand
And fly up these stairs
So you can see our love
More than my thoughts can think
Far too many years down the road
No, No, No I can’t live another day
The thought chills my bones

The force beneath my feet is slowly broken now I’m bare
Winters come and still it’s storming, heaven is nowhere
The coldest shiver chills my bones, humbles my toes

I don’t have a care
For yesterday or tomorrow
I have all these dreams but all these fears
A few seconds I wish to borrow
I’ll pay you with these wide eyed stares
As I climb to the land – nothing is ever clear
Blue skies or the night
Stay beside me here
Sooooon everything will feel right

The force beneath my feet is slowly broken now I’m bare
Winters come and still it’s storming, heaven is nowhere
The coldest shiver chills my bones, humbles my toes

The force beneath my feet is slowly broken now I’m bare
Winters come and still it’s storming, heaven is nowhere
The coldest shiver chills my bones, humbles my toes

extraBBQ’s Allread Dad Monster

I wrote a book today
To share, show and tell
It had a multitude of story lines
Thousands of words from telegraphs
It was about the ones
Who were able to walk away
Co-written by those that had no chance
They couldn’t catch a break
The Cassius Crash

I stared at the cover for hours
The Cassius Crash
There was no time left to borrow
I did not read on any further
Everyone’s got a story to tell
I thought about it
Ten thousands of times, for hours
So I wrote it all down
They were able to walk away
My eyes just gazed
They skipped on home
Footsteps on the grass
Oh, those below
It should have happened different
There still could be more
I won’t walk, I’ll stay and remember

The Cassius Crash picked apart the clouds
And thinned the air
Destroyed the weather (It destroyed the weather)
The Cassius Crash destroyed the weather (it destroyed the weather)

The Cassius Crash picked apart the clouds
And thinned the air
Destroyed the weather (It destroyed the weather)
The Cassius Crash destroyed the weather (it destroyed the weather)

I went to bed to wake up
Tomorrow they were coming here to stay
I woke up to get ready
They were on their way
I found out, it was electrifying
Unable to rob me
So mesmerizing I memorized
I’ll always remember
When the sundial
Shows it’s the right time
I’ll walk to the clouds shore
I won’t walk away

The Cassius Crash picked apart the clouds
And thinned the air
Destroyed the weather (It destroyed the weather)
The Cassius Crash destroyed the weather (it destroyed the weather)

The Cassius Crash picked apart the clouds
And thinned the air
Destroyed the weather (It destroyed the weather)
The Cassius Crash destroyed the weather (it destroyed the weather)

I wrote a book today
And then I chose to throw it all away
Without turning a single page
I threw it all away
To turn the page
I lit a match, my story burned with age
With no plans but to stay
I wrote a book today
I wasn’t a fan
It burns as it lies
In the garbage can
With the greetings, the cards and photographs
My life has changed
I unlocked the rusty cage
So I had the choice
The choice to stay
I did so much today
Sitting in the ash playing with
The pages’ remains
Thinking about the crash
The others were able to walk away
The Cassius Crash picked apart the clouds
And thinned the air
Destroyed the weather (It destroyed the weather)
It’s all over now
I declare I won’t walk away
We’ll all walk again together (We’ll destroy the gray weather)

The Cassius Crash picked apart the clouds
And thinned the air
Destroyed the weather (It destroyed the weather)
The Cassius Crash destroyed the weather (it destroyed the weather)

The Cassius Crash picked apart the clouds
And thinned the air
Destroyed the weather (It destroyed the weather)
The Cassius Crash destroyed the weather (it destroyed the weather)
